Ford (NYSE:F) spent $1.43 million in the third quarter lobbying the federal government on a variety of issues. That's over $300,000 less than spent in the third quarter of 2009, which came to $1.75 million.
One of the key battles is over the providing of technology that the government opposes, such as the ability to surf the Internet and make changes to a Facebook page. All of which could be a distraction to drivers.
Other targeted issues were for additional tax credits for research initiatives targeting natural gas vehicles, electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.
Ford closed Thursday at $16.77, gaining $0.22, or 1.33 percent.
