Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) Strikes at Cisco (Nasdaq:CSCO)

Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) has aggressively attacked competitor Cisco Systems (Nasdaq:CSCO), offering a big discount to customers who trade in products from Cisco.

HP said they're offering potential customers a 20 percent discount off of list prices for switches in its A-Series and E-Series if they are trading in eligible product lines like their Nexus and Catalyst series.

Products being targeted are networking items whose life spans are expected to end near the latter part of 2011.

HP put a minimum price of $100,000 in order to quality for the 20 percent discount.

The overall sector has been consolidating lately in order to become one-stop shops for their clients.
