Ford (NYSE:F) Sales Climb 15 Percent in 2010

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F) announced sales in the U.S. climbed by 15 percent in 2010, most of that generated from sales of sedans and pickups.

The strongest performer for Ford was its Ford F-150 pickup, which outsold all other vehicles in the U.S. last year. Sedans were led by Edge and Fusion.

Ford said they sold about 1.9 million trucks and cars in 2010, and also stole market share from General Motors (NSYE:GM) and Toyota (NYSE:TM).

The automaker said this is the second year in a row they've gained market share on their rivals, the first time they've accomplished that since 1993.

Ford was trading at $17.06, dropping $0.19, or 1.10 percent, as of 12:54 PM EST.
