In a deal made in the latter part of 2009 where Vivendi said it would sell its stake in NBC Universal to General Electric (NYSE:GE) once regulators gave Comcast (Nasdaq:CMCSA) approval to acquire the company, they have now completed the transaction for $3.8 billion
The stake represented 12.34 percent of the media giant.
GE said in a statement, "Vivendi has concluded, on January 25, 2011, the sale of the remainder of its stake in NBC Universal, a 12.34 percent stake, for $3.8 billion to GE."
Vivendi originally had a 20 percent stake in NBC Universal, but sold the other 7.66 percent to General Electric in September for $2 billion.
General Electric closed Wednesday at $19.92, down $0.06, or 0.30 percent. Comcast closed at $23.32, down $0.02, or 0.09 percent.
