Gold Fields (NYSE:GFI), Ivanhoe Mines (NYSE:IVN), Goldcorp (NYSE:GG), Gammon Gold (NYSE:GRS) in 2010

Here's another quick look at the general performance of gold companies in 2010. This time around we'll look briefly at Gold Fields (NYSE:GFI), Ivanhoe Mines (NYSE:IVN) Goldcorp (NYSE:GG) and Gammon Gold (NYSE:GRS) and how they performed for the year.

While most gold companies we've been looking at ended in the positive on the last trading day of 2010, Ivanhoe did go negative to end the year.

As far as spot gold goes, it soared on the final day of 2010 to close at over $1,420.

Gold Fields ended the year at $18.13, rising by $0.20 on December 31, up 1.12 percent. The company had a 52-week trading range of $10.88 to $21.12. They ended the year with a market cap of $12.80 billion.

Ivanhoe Mines closed the year out at $22.92, losing $0.38 on the last trading day, down 1.63 percent. The trading range for 2010 was from $12.15 to $30.03. They ended the year with a market cap of $12.18 billion.

Goldcorp finished off the year at $45.98, rising $0.70 on Friday, a gain of 1.55 percent. The 2010 trading range for them was $32.84 to $48.94. They closed off the year with a market cap of $33.86 billion.

Gammon Gold ended 2010 at $8.19, gaining $0.23 on the final trading day of the year, up 2.89 percent. Their range for the year was $5.09 to $12.50. Their market cap heading into 2011 is $1.14 billion.
