Intel (Nasdaq:INTC) Says PC Market Grew 17 Percent Globally in 2010

Even though there has been enormous coverage of the probability of tablets cannibalizing PC sales, overall that appears not to be the case, looking at it from a global view, which is really the only one to take into account with international companies like Intel (Nasdaq:INTC).

In its quarterly report, Intel said PC sales not only didn't decline internationally, but overall grew 17 percent in 2010; not exactly a bad year.

Of course in the U.S. and other Western countries, cannibalization may be part of the picture starting in 2011, but that remains to be played out. It is likely though.

Overall Intel sees the global PC market growing in 2011, along with emerging computer devices.

Intel said the next five years should bring about a billion more people into the online community around the world, which will drive about 15 billion new sales in connnected devices, including tablets, PCs, smart TVs and embedded devices.
