Toyota (NYSE:TM), Ford (NYSE:F) Top Auto Brands in U.S. According to Consumers

Toyota (NYSE:TM) and Ford (NYSE:F) were named the top brands in the U.S. according to a survey released by Consumer Reports magazine.

Toyota has fallen over the last couple of years in the survey while Ford has rebounded, bringing to the place of being essentially tied for the No. 1 spot.

Consumer Reports said in a statement, “Ford built on the momentum seen in last year’s study, likely the result of a model lineup with improving performance, reliability and styling. The massive recalls announced by Toyota earlier this year contributed to the tarnishing of its public image as measured by the poll.”

Toyota dropped on the need to recall over 8 million vehicles around the world over the last couple of years. Ford has been viewed positively because they were the only huge auto company in America not to declare bankruptcy.

Toyota was trading at $79.98, up $0.12, or 0.15 percent, as of 12:36 PM EST. Ford was trading at $18.00, gaining $0.62, or 3.57 percent.
