Toyota (NYSE:TM) Remains in Defensive Posture, Recalls Another 1.7 Million Vehicles

Even since the recalls for acceleration issues, Toyota (NYSE:TM) has consistently been on the defensive, and they are again, as they announced they're recalling another 1.7 million vehicles, citing a variety of possible defects.

The recall is worldwide, and includes luxury models IS and GS in the North American market, and the Avensis station wagon and sedan models in the European market.

In Japan, approximately a dozen models are being recalled.

Toyota said there are no known accidents coming from the problem, which was identified a variety of defects that among other things, could result in fuel leaking from the vehicle.

Toyota closed Tuesday at $83.86, gaining $0.36, or 0.43 percent.
