Verizon (NYSE:VZ) Will Demolish AT&T (NYSE:T) with Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone Says Gleacher

With the advent of the Verizon (NYSE:VZ) Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone upon them, AT&T (NYSE:T) is about to get demolished, according to Gleacher and Company.

Gleacher and Co. analyst Brian Marshall said he believes AT&T will lose up to 3 million customers as a result of the deal. That would be the largest departure of AT&T customers since 2004 when it merged with Cingular.

Much of this is based upon three years of pent-up demand, which could overwhelm the former exclusive iPhone carrier.

The question that apparently will really have to be answered to make all of this a reality is whether or not the Verizon network will be able to handle the huge numbers of consumers flooding it.

If they can, the exodus from AT&T could be enormous. If not, they could become another company considered as having a poor quality network based on the extraordinary demand the Apple iPhone places upon it.

Verizon closed Tuesday at $35.36, down $0.56, or 1.56 percent. AT&T closed at $27.91, dropping $0.43, or 1.52 percent.

I don't think any of these experts realize what in the hell they are talking about. The current iPhone offering from verizon is not on the same level as it's brother at at&t. There may be an initial loss of a few hundred thousand but overall things will remain unchanged with this version of the iPhone. Data speeds are much slower with verizon's cdma, people won't actually start to switch until a HSPA+ or LTE handset comes. But the "experts" probably don't have any clue as to what I just said.
