Will Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Become the King of Content Creators?

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may be on the cusp of introducing their own unique, or exclusive content, at least that's the theory put out there by David Rolfe, CIO of Wedgewood Partners, based in St. Louis.

In an interview with Yahoo's (NASDAQ:YHOO) Tech Ticker, Rolfe said, "With...this closed networks of millions of devices, we actually are thinking they can go to content creators, compete with Showtime and HBO, outbid for shows and have exclusive content just for iOS device owners."

Much of this conjecture comes from the fact that Apple appears to have no interest in any major acquisition, even though they're sitting on $60 billion in cash.

Not ones to return cash to investors, the question is what will Apple do with this growing hoard. The obvious and simple thing would be to repurchase shares.

But Apple's desire to push the limit on new devices and surprises lends to them putting money in new gadgets or initiatives that go beyond the typical Wall Street response.

Pressure will mount for Apple to do something with their capital, and it always attracts the interest of the market on what Apple is going to do next.
