BP (NYSE:BP) Pushing for Big Olympic Footprint

BP (NYSE:BP) is pushing hard to make a big splash at the Olympic games in London in 2012, as it continues to work on repairing its broken brand.

The energy giant is one of seven major advertising and sponsoring companies for the 2012 Olympics, with others being BMW, Lloyds TSB, EDF Energy, Adidas, British Airways and BT.

As the official oil and gas partner of the Olympics, BP is also providing the fueling for the vehicles used during the Olympiad. That includes fuel, vehicle washes and lubricants. Liquefied petroleum gas will also be provided for catering demands.

A BP spokeswoman said, "We are talking to lots of people about lots of different things in connection with BP and its support for London 2012."

One of its strategies is to market its role as 'premier partner' of London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. The Cultural Olympiad is a four-year program in the UK supporting a variety of cultural projects.
