Ford Motor (F) Launching New Fiesta In India In 2011

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F) said Tuesday it will launch a new version of its Fiesta sedan in India in 2011, as part of its expansion plan in Asia's third-largest automobile market.

In August, Ford said it plans to introduce eight new models in India by 2015. Ford, like several other global players such as General Motors, Volkswagen AG and Nissan Motor Co., hopes these plans will help consolidate its position in India.

The company Tuesday didn't provide specifications of the new version but said it will be sold alongside the existing range of the Fiesta model in India.

The new Fiesta will be manufactured in the south Indian city of Chennai, where Ford already makes the small car Figo, the entry-level Ikon sedan and its utility vehicle Endeavour.
