Ford Motor (NYSE:F) announced today it has sold over 20 percent more vehicles in January of 2011 than it did in January 2010.
Units sold in January 2011 jumped to 53,340 units, a record for the company. Leading the charge was Ford's Focus model.
A total of 31,904 vehicles of Ford were sold via its joint venture with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. and Mazda Motor Corp. That was consistent with their performance last year.
Jiangling Motors Corp. sold 20,966 Ford vehicles, which they have a 30 percent stake in. That was a 40 percent increase over their 2009 performance.
Ford was trading at $15.93, down $0.16, or 0.99 percent, as of 2:01 PM EST.
