NASA's Conclusions Not Enough for Toyota (NYSE:TM) Opponents

It appears the ongoing nagging by so-called consumer advocates concerning the acceleration problems at Toyota (NYSE:TM) are not over concerns over safety, but over an almost religious belief something is wrong with the electronics in the car.

Incredibly, former Nader's Raider Clarence Ditlow, said this: "I think they could have done a lot more in terms of gathering expertise."

If enlisting NASA engineers wasn't enough to check out the cause of the problem, what did Ditlow have in mind. It really makes no sense to make a comment like that, other than based on emotion and belief and not the facts surrounding the issue.

Michael Kirsch, principal engineer at NASA's engineering and safety center said this, "NASA found no evidence that a malfunction in electronics caused large intended acceleration."

The testing was exhaustive, leaving nothing unturned as to what could have been the problem if it was indeed electronic.

In the end, it's a mechanical issue like originally concluded, and for those "unexplained" accelerations, what about human error, as plenty of people have pushed the pedal when they meant to do something else.

Toyota was trading at $89.13, down $0.50, or 0.56 percent, as of 12:11 PM EST.
