Pandora About to Clean Sirius' (SIRI) Clock in GM Deal?

With Pandora about to get its hands on approximately $100 million through an IPO, and fresh off a new deal with General Motors (NYSE:GM) to stream online radio into its vehicles, it looks like Pandora is positioned to take some serious market share away from Sirius (NASDAQ:SIRI).

The deal with General Motors will include a new system to be offered first in the Equinox and Volt to stream the content.

GM is naming the new system "Chevy MyLink," which will include a 7" color touch-screen display in the dashboard.

How it will work is users can use an existing Pandora account to stream content from Pandora media by syncing the device in the car to their smartphone.

Pandora has a registered user base of 80 million. GM said they MyLink system will be placed in all of its vehicles over the next 18 months.

Or ALL cars equipped with an Auxiliary Jack input (like my GM Buick 08 Enclave) can already stream internet music, ipod music from our smartphones...or our ipods, ipads right now. The MyLink is simply a wireless auxilary jack for your smart phoneas far as Pandora goes.

The whole MyLink is simply to sync your smart phone to your MyLink enabled vehicle. While that is a great bonus for GM, it is NOT a deal with Pandora to stream internet or satellite Pandora service DIRECTLY into the vehicle.

And Pandora is as different a service as to Sirius as to T-radio as to listening to CDs as to listening to an IPOD. Not having Sirius service or canceling because of Pandora is as likely an event as someone canceling or not having Sirius because of an Ipod jacked into the vehicle.

Clearly the biased and misleading *post* you have made is simply to mislead quickly and hope to see a shortfall...likely you are heavy short, making that grave error of thinking that Sirius missing analyst forecasts means something bad. Same analysts that screamed SELL as it went from .05 to $1.80.

Quit abusing your feed to post and throw sham articles.

^^i agree with this dude. Quit hatin on siri and join the bandwagon back to $20 a share. More money to be made on a stock that goes from $1.80 to $20

Sirius is in deep sushi. Their fee model is crappy, and there are too many alternatives for free. I canceled a year ago, and have superior listening than when I had it. Anybody that owns its stock, just do your DD.

Sirius is by far a superior service over Pandora. They have nothing on Sirius. Get over it already!

You may have cancelled a year ago...but regardless, the year showed great ADDITIONS of subscribers, not losses. The year showed the best on record as well for them.

Your cancellation is not felt.

Pandora has very limited impact on Sirius. The article is a sham.

Do your own DD, and you would see you are crazy to not own them currently.

well if anyone is in doubt of SIRI perfomance why don't you just take a look at the past 2 years. If you were too busy bashing SIRI you have missed out on 1000%+ gains. Sucks to be you.

Ps. proof read your article " GM said they MyLink system will be placed in all of its vehicles over the next 18 months. "

Well i guess we can look at this many ways. I look at it as, now i can stream my sirius account through GM for $3

People want to get in their car and turn on the radio and go. Sirius is just that. THis is about the future whereas I predict sirius will eventually become a free advertising based service replacing terrestrial radio. All viable terrestrial radio stations will move to satellite format and the likes of Rush, Beck and so on will be on Sirius without Sirius having to pay them. Sirius is the future of the radio. What we are watching is history repeat itself as cable did to regular t.v.

Sirius will smack Pandora right back into the box from whence it came....While they may have an IPO in their hands, they are aligning themselves with a company that had to beg, borrow and steal from the taxpayers and the feds in order to survive...hmmmm that sounds like a great partnership.

I own SIRI have tracked their progress and watched their improvements in all matters financial - they are in great shape...Ford, BMW, Howard , Manchester United etc. So many great things I am very inclined to say Pandora who?

Moreover, the chevy volt, and whatever other e-vehicles they choose to put this in to is simply not enough of a market share, nor is enough to support a switch of allegiance or purchase of shares, let alone a further glance behind me to see who is sneaking up to threaten the value of my long position in Siri. There simply is no one who can compete globally with SiriusXM

WTG SIRI 20bux long counting my profits from initial purchase already....muhahahahahahaaha

I've said this before in a million discussions about Pandora, and while it likely accounts for a small portion of the GM sales, are you aware that Pandora is ILLEGAL in Canada?!?! From Canada, you can't even VIEW their webpage and what they offer. A disclaimer immediately shows saying something like,

"Based on your IP address, it appears you are from Canada and our service it not available in Canada."

So, are you telling me that the new Equinoxs and Volts being sold in Canada will have Satellite radio removed and replaced with a product that DOESN'T EVEN WORK IN THIS COUNTRY?

Some people just don't get it.

Sirius-XM for the win.

i owned a bunch of siri stock when it was $4 a share. And bought a TON of it at .04 a share... this stock will shoot to at least $10 a share.. I can then retire.. Thank you XM/SIRI

Clean SIRI's clock? Laughable! They will need a heck of a lot more than 100 mil to do that. Can you tell me the ARPU for the almighty Scamdora? This IPO could go the way of enron shareholders when the bagholders wake up to the fact that free does not generate revenue or profits. Look at terrestrial radio and you'll see what I mean. Over 300 million listeners and they can't make money! How is Scamdora going to do it with MAYBE 20 Million listeners of which maybe 5% pay!? We don't know because Scamdora won't tell us! I'm laughing all the way to the bank with SIRI and it's 20 million PAYING listeners!!!

LIES ALL LIES who ever wrote this needs to get there fact straight. Nothing and I mean nothing is better than sirius radio and nothing will be. Buy sirius and dont be a loser like the author who wrote this bogus paragraph of bologna. SIRI it is going places and If you are waiting around for it to fail you will grow old before that happens.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Pandora is exclusively music. I mean, Sirius has music...but also does sports so well. I can hear the LA feed or the Boston feed of the same game. The kid channel is great. There's comedy, radio dramas, and yes, Howard Stern. But even if you just want to listen to music they have some awesome channels. Pandora just doesn't have the corporate clout to get exclusive deals with artists, or sports associations. You get what you pay for.
