Research in Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM) Rejected Nokia (NYSE:NOK) Partnership

Apparently before (NYSE:NOK) made the deal to use Microsoft's (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows Phone 7 as their smartphone platform, they had approached Research in Motion Ltd. (NASDAQ:RIMM) with a similar offer, and were turned down, according to a report from TechCrunch.

Some have also questioned by Nokia didn't partner with Google Inc.'s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android platform, but that was probably never in the cards, as they would have had to give up too much, and they wouldn't have been able to continue on with its Ovi suite.

In what may surprise some, Nokia's Ovi app store, at this time, outsells Google's apps.

Nokia was trading at $9.05, gaining $0.20, or 2.32 percent, as of 2:21 PM EST.
