Later today Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE:S) will unveil an Android (NASDAQ:GOOG) smartphone with dual screens, both 3.5" touch screens.
The new smartphone will be named Echo and was developed by Kyocera Corp. The two screens will be able to be stacked side by side.
With the screens positioned side by side, users can perform multiple tasks or drag items from screen to screen.
There is also a hinge include where one screen can be layered below the other, allowing for a more normal single touch-screen smartphone experience. Echo will run on 3G.
Analysts have noted Sprint was in need of a new offering to continue to generate momentum, as their existing smartphone products are maturing.
Sprint was trading at $4.43, up $0.025, or 0.57 percent, as of 11:44 Am EST.
