GE (GE), Intel (INTC) Cleared by FDA for Virtual Care Platform

Intel Corp. (NSDQ:INTC) and General Electric Co. (NYSE:GE), who have a joint venture called Intel-GE Care Innovations LLC, has received 510(k) clearance from the Food & Drug Administration for the Health Guide Express virtual care coordination system.

Intel-GE Care Innovations CEO Louis Burns said, "With this new platform, Intel-GE Care Innovations facilitates greater care coordination that gives healthcare organizations the ability to innovate and provide customized care."

The purpose of the system, is to "help healthcare professionals and patients manage chronic care by making vital signs collection, interactive patient health sessions, video conferencing capabilities, and multimedia educational content available on consumer PCs, according to the companies."

Dubbed Intel Health Guide Express, the news system is now on the verge of being available on off-the-shelf personal computers.

GE closed Thursday at $20.75, up $0.43, or 2.12 percent. Intel closed at $21.79, up $0.30, or 1.40 percent.
