Shares of Goldcorp (NYSE:GG), Barrick Gold (NYSE:ABX), Newmont Mining (NYSE:NEM) and Yamana Gold (NYSE:AUY) all got a big boost Tuesday as gold prices soared to record highs.
Gold eventually settled at an all-time high of $1,431.20 an ounce, and rising even more after the settlement on Tuesday. Spot gold was at $1,433.20, gaining $22 an ounce.
With Middle East turmoil continuing, investors are again flocking to gold as a safe haven, as uncertainty rocks the markets.
The hapless Ben Bernanke added to the strength of gold as well, apparently one of the few who believes the words he speaks, as he said he has no concerns about inflation, even as inflation hits food and fuel hard.
Yamana closed Tuesday at $12.91, gaining $0.18, or 1.41 percent. Newmont Mining closed at $56.09, up $0.82, or 1.48 percent. Goldcorp closed at $49.34, rising $1.54, or 3.22 percent. Barrick Gold closed at $53.77. gaining $0.95, or 1.80 percent.
