Micron (NASDAQ:MU) is asking the state of Idaho to protect company secrets by shielding a portion of its tax records, which could result in exposure of the research activities to competitors.
Talking to the House Revenue and Taxation Committee, Micron lobbyist, Mike Reynoldson, noted the company unveils detailed information about its technology to tax authorities annually.
Concerns that its competitors could peruse the information and extract proprietary data about the company from the tax records is what is prompting the request.
The company is asking those types of details be excluded from requests for public records.
Micron closed Tuesday at $10.89, down $0.14, or 1.27 percent.
