Netflix (NFLX) Eyeing Original Content to Differentiate

In a move to head off becoming a commodity business and competing on price along, Netflix (Nasdaq:NFLX) is looking to original content as a way to separate themselves from a growing crowd of video streaming competitors.

Reports are coming out that Netflix is in negotiations over developing its own original TV series, evidently based on British miniseries "House of Cards."

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, it'll start Kevin Spacey and be directed by David Fincher.

Netflix also recently inked a deal with Epix for Internet rights over a five-year period, moving away from older TV and movie content.

Netflix was trading at $215.86, falling $1.25, or 0.58 percent.
