Oracle's (ORCL) Sales and Profits Expected to Surge

Oracle Corp. (NASDAQ:ORCL) is expected to post sharp gains in profit and sales when it reports fiscal third-quarter earnings after the market’s close next Thursday, as the business technology giant benefits from growing demand for its expanding line of hardware and software.

Wall Street analysts polled by FactSet Research expect Oracle (ORCL) to report earnings excluding one-time items of 49 cents a share for the period ended in February, and $8.65 billion in revenue.

That compares to earnings of 38 cents a share, and $6.47 billion in sales in the same period last year.

“Our checks give us the confidence that Oracle is going to post a strong quarter,” JMP Securities analyst Patrick Walravens wrote in a recent research note to clients.

In particular, Walravens wrote that Oracle is likely to report 20% growth in the sale of new software licenses compared to the period last year, to $2.05 billion.
