Solar Stocks (LDK) (YGE) (TSL) (FSLR) (STP) Rise on Nuclear Issue

Shares of Yingli Green Energy (NYSE:YGE), First Solar, (Nasdaq:FSLR), Suntech Power (NYSE:STP), LDK Solar Co. (NYSE:LDK), JA Solar (Nasdaq:JASO), SunPower (Nasdaq:SPWRA), Canadian Solar (Nasdaq:CSIQ), Trina Solar Ltd. (NYSE:TSL), ReneSola Ltd. (NYSE:SOL) all pushing up today as uncertainty of nuclear continues to push the share prices up.

French authorities noted the nuclear crisis in Japan has reached a level of 6 on a scale of 1 to 7. Strangely, Germany has shut down reactors built before 1980 as if that has anything to do with what is happening in Japan.

The idea of pushing the solar sector up is the assumption it could be used to subsidize energy needs if nuclear projects are canceled and existing reactors are taken offline; a highly unlikely scenario when it took an earthquake of this magnitude to cause the problems.
