Wells Fargo (WFC) Slashing 190 jobs in Bethlehem

Wells Fargo is juggling some things up in Pennsylvania, moving 450 call center jobs from Allentown to Bethlehem, while cutting 190 existing positions at Bethlehem.

Jobs being cust are those in the auto finance unit, the reason given that less people are taking out car loans, and those that do are paying them off.

According to Wells Fargo spokesman Jim Baum, the company will attempt to retrain those 190 people and hire them back as new employees.

“We want to keep as many as we can,” Baum said. “We believe in retaining and retraining. We want people to continue their careers with us.”

There was no timeframe given as to when the job cuts would take place.

Wells Fargo closed Friday at $31.91, down $0.50, or 1.54 percent.
