Google (GOOG) May Face Antitrust Investigation in U.S.

People close to the situation say Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) may end up being the center of a probe U.S. Federal Trade Commission over antitrust concerns.

Evidently the FTC is waiting to see what decision the Justice Department comes to on whether or not to challenged the proposed acquisition of ITA Software by the search giant, which focuses on search related to travel information.

It's hard to see how this can be seriously considered, as anyone at any time can choose which search engine they want to use to perform a search.

Google doesn't and cannot stop that from happening.

How they could be considered as violating antitrust laws because the majority of people prefer its search product make no sense.
