Netflix (NFLX) Not Interested in "Tiered" Streaming

In an interview with Business Insider, Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) CEO Reed Hastings said he's not interested in offering tiered levels of pricing for streaming.

He added there is also little possibility the company will offer pay-per-view like Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) does.

“We want to focus on a simple proposition: unlimited streaming for $7.99 per month. Our big focus is taking that simple proposition around the globe,” says Hastings. “For us, it’s about brand clarity, and that we stand for $7.99 per month for unlimited streaming.”

As for growth, Hastings pointed to mobile phone users, which numbers 300 million in the U.S., with 100 million households using them.

He said on that: “As to how they get split between Netflix and its competitors, that’s really hard to tell. Somewhere north of 20 million, south of 300 million.”

Netflix closed Monday at $244.72, gaining $2.63, or 1.09 percent.
