Sprint (S) Now Offers Market Carrier Billing for Android Users

Sprint (NYSE:S) has entered the market carrier billing segment, now offering Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android users the option of purchasing products from Android Market and having them put on your monthly bill.

Google said, "We believe that Direct Carrier Billing is a key payment option because it lets users purchase and pay for apps more easily. It's also important because it offers a convenient way to buy in regions where credit cards are less common."

With many regions of the world very light on credit card use, this will presumably give users options outside of America and Japan, where credit card usage is ubiquitous, assuming it is rolled out to those regions.

Sprint customers should be offered the new billing options sometime in the next several days.

Sprint closed Wednesday at $4.81, gaining $0.01, or 0.21 percent.
