In an attempt to stem ongoing losses and shrinkage, Sprint (NYSE:S) is reportedly about to offer an unlimited data service plan when Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) releases its iPhone 5, according to a report from Bloomberg. That will help to differentiate them from major competitors Verizon (NYSE:VZ) and AT&T (NYSE:T), probably helping them siphon off major users.

Verizon and AT&T charge users for data service in addition to voice- service plans. AT&T, which has unlimited voice service for $69.99 a month, offers 200 megabytes of data for $15 a month, 2 gigabytes of data for $25 a month, or 4 gigabytes of data for $45 a month. Verizon’s data plans for the iPhone start at $30 a month for 2 gigabytes and increase to $80 for 10 gigabytes, in addition to unlimited voice service for $69.99 a month they charge.

While prices have leaked out yet, Sprint already offers unlimited voice and data for $99.99 a month for specific smartphones, and it's certain the iPhone 5 plan will be somewhere in that ballpark.
