BP (NYSE:BP) Gets Boost From Shell (NYSE:RDS-A) Rumors

Rumors again are emanating from the Daily Mail, this time the supposed merger between Royal Dutch Shell PLC (NYSE:RDS-A) and BP PLC (NYSE:BP).

Again citing unnamed sources close to the situation, they said Shell had been interested in BP when the apex of the Gulf of Mexico spill had arrived, and apparently they're still interested in a merger with BP, according to the story.

BP was trading at $45.85, gaining $0.70, or 1.55 percent, as of 1:08 PM EST. Shell was trading at $67.35, up $0.27, or 0.40 percent.

Neither company has commented on the story yet.
