Dell (NASDAQ:DELL), HP (NYSE:HPQ), Samsung and NEC are all being impacted by the failure of Intel's (NASDAQ:INTC) 6 Series chip, code-named Cougar Point.
Samsung reported it will be forced to offer refunds to some of its customers in response to the design flaw of Intel.
Hewlett-Packard said they'll have to delay the release of a product due out next week, and Dell said four products they sold have been impacted by the debacle.
NEC also said they're going to have to delay the release of some of their new models.
The cost of the fallout hasn't been determined or released yet, but it has to be significant for all the company which had been relying on the chip.
Intel said earlier in the week they'll probably have to spend as high as $700 million to right the problem.
Dell was trading at $13.76, up $0.31, or 2.30 percent, as of 2:52 M EST. Hewlett-Packard was at $46.92, gaining $0.40, or 0.86 percent. Intel was up to $21.63, gaining $0.15, or 0.70 percent.
