Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Big Winner in Nokia's (NYSE:NOK) Decision

There are a lot of winners and losers in the decision by Nokia (NYSE:NOK) to make Windows Phone 7 their platform, and the biggest one is obviously Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), which went from someone trying to find a home for Windows Phone 7 to immediately becoming the No. 1 platform in the world.

Assuming solid execution, Microsoft's OS is now and should continue to be one of the largest players in the smartphone market.

Another major winner will probably be Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM), which has contributed the hardware to the first wave of Windows Phone 7 devices - the Snapdragon processor.

Qualcomm was trading at $57.36, up $0.36, or 0.63 percent, as of 11:37 AM EST. Microsoft was trading at $27.29, losing $0.21, or 0.76 percent. Nokia was trading at $9.36, down 1.52, or 13.92 percent.
